Summary Of Let It Rain By Rene Rowling - 1262 Words

Struggle in Finding Happiness J.K. Rowling, the famous author of the Harry Potter fantasy series said, â€Å"Depression isn’t just being a bit sad. It’s feeling nothing. It’s not wanting to be alive anymore.† As teenagers and even young adults we struggle with finding our purpose and happiness in life. Certain things happen while going through this stage and they can change our life and the way we view things. In the short story â€Å"Let it Rain† by Rene, the main character Jessica expresses the struggle and confusion she has by the way she lives and interacts with other people. This is mainly due to the death of her father, memories of happiness in the pass, the isolation and loneliness of living by herself and not communicating or interacting†¦show more content†¦Ã¢â‚¬Å"The news didn’t surprise her, he had been struggling with heart diseases for a long time.† The news came in a really bad moment on Jessica’s life. She didn’t think of it ti ll some time went by, then all she could think of was the death. It kept her awake at night running through her head over and over again. It bothered her but she couldn’t help it. Jessica does not seem to be a very social person. In the story it only talks about a good friend named Leo. They are always there for each other when needed. They talk about personal things and confine their thoughts and emotions, but they’ve never revealed their feelings about each other. While being together, Jessica seems to be thinking about something else, she thinks of the pass very often. â€Å"Truth was, she wasn’t listening to him.† She asks him, â€Å"How do you know you’re going to die?† Jessica feels like is going to happen to her soon, so she’s scared. Leo understands her in a way but not completely and tells her not to be scared, that life was much scarier. He is confused at times by the way she acts so sad and troubled by the world. She has be en thinking of the past very often and how happy it made her feel to remember. â€Å"There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief.† by Aeschylus. She obviously misses her father and wishes to go back to the good old days. She thought of the Bernard Bridge, she wanted to go there. It’s a symbol of freedom and peace for her. She planed to go one
